After a long, hard day of work, sometimes you just need to find a place where you can blow off steam. Or find a place where you can socialize with other people like you. Maybe they work the same jobs, or maybe they've been through the same experiences as you, and it's often cathartic and therapeutic to share these moments with them and find common things to bond over. 

That's one of the biggest reasons why legions and clubs are formed...to better connect us with people who can share our lives together. To remind us that, yes, others go through what we go through, and there can be a great deal of fellowship that revolves around these things. Now, this is a mighty philosophical way to look at social clubs, but isn't that why we have them? They've been around for a while too.
